Keltoi Winery
Take an unexpected jaunt to the Emerald Isle at Keltoi Winery, north of Joplin. This winery offers Irish hospitality all throughout the year. In the summer, cool off with some white wine under the twinkling lights of the covered porch, and in the winter, sip a cup of hot spiced wine while cozying up next to the fireplace inside the winery’s cottage.
Established in 1997, Keltoi is the labor of love of Erv and LeeAnn Langan. The winery produces over a dozen types of wine, including the popular Irish Raindrops, a smooth, semi-sweet white wine; the Norton, a dry red wine made from Missouri’s state grape; and fruit wines, such as apple and pear.
You can explore the grounds of the winery, too. Wander down the mile-long walking trail to an area called Maynooth. Named after an ancient site in Ireland, Maynooth contains a Fairy Circle encircling a Tree of Life, as well as a replica of the megalithic site Nine Ladies. Or pack a picnic lunch (and a bottle of wine!) and dine beside Little Northfork Creek or in the vineyard itself. Open Wednesday through Sunday and by appointment.
