161
In 2020, local artist Eric Haun dedicated 80 hours of his spare time over the course of six months, painting a mural that honors the 161 lives that were lost when a tornado devastated Joplin in 2011. Aptly titled “161”, the mural features 161 butterflies that represent the people who perished in the tornado. A symbol of hope and renewal, the butterfly has come to represent the positive, transformational spirit of the post-tornado Joplin community.
Located on the north side of the building.
