Drawn to the Power of Words
The theme of this two-part mural is “the power of the written word”. The first panel, which runs parallel to 2nd Street, reveals the inside components of a printing press; its black and red wires depicting positive and negative poles of power, which represent the positive and negative impact of the very words they produce. Rounding the street corner, we see these same wires twist and converge, ending at a light bulb. The moth symbolizes all that is drawn toward this light - a light created by language. Drawn to the Power of Words was painted by TANK, a local volunteer group of artists, friends, and lovers of public art.
