Mercy Park
Connect with nature without leaving the city at Joplin’s Mercy Park. Native trees, grasses, and prairie flowers, planted in the park in 2016, have grown to create a lush landscape today. Accessible walking trails lead visitors around a green space, a pond, a meadow, and up to Mercy Chapel and Gardens for a sweeping view of the entire park. Picnic tables under pavilions invite visitors to rest and enjoy the natural surroundings. Inspirational artwork in the park adds culture to the Mercy Park experience, with the series of bronze sculptures in the Rotary Clubs of Joplin Sculpture Garden, and the murals on the east side of the park: the iconic butterfly mural On the Wings of Butterflies; and Together We Create, a mural designed by 50 area elementary students. This marriage of nature and art is what makes Mercy Park a one-of-a-kind oasis in the middle of Joplin.
